Competitions 2010/2011

These Rules are intended to cover this year only and thereby give the committee more time to consider more equitable solutions.

Competition rules (basic)

Monthly

Transparencies -up to three entries per category per author (handed in on the night ) Open and subject categories to be held on the same four  evenings  as DPI subject local assignment competitions.

Prints- up to two entries per category per author (handed in on the night ) Frequency as in programme

DPI (Digitally projected images) Up to two entries per category per author (emailed or handed to the competition secretary by the Wednesday previous ) Frequency as in programme. Images JPEG 1024 max horizontal x 768 max vertical. Title image and identify author in properties/Summary.

Audio Visual-Transparencies/audio or DPI /audio (EXE programme, pref. On USB alt. disc or memory card), Limited to Five minutes -LPA rule. Comp sec may request week previous to facilitate loading. An overall winner from the two evenings to be selected

Entry fees- A charge of £1 is made for all of each author's entries for each evening. No charges are made for the ` of the year Competitions

External Competitions

 Check with the organisers’ websites or the Competition secretaries  to ensure compliance with latest rules.

Annual Competitions TOTY,  DPIOTY, POTY

Number of entries -up to 10 per author in total. Maximum of 3 in any category. Priority to be indicated on entries

Slide trophies.

At the DPI competition on 3rd November the Judge will be asked to select in the following categories Pictorial, Record, Natural History, Portrait, Photojournalism, and Landscape. An overall winner will also be selected for the John West Digital Cup.

On the 17th November the judge will again be requested to select the best transparencies in the same categories as on 3rd. An overall winner will be selected for the E W Plant Cup. Following this the best of the DPIs and transparencies in each category will be judged to select one to be awarded the appropriate SOTY cup.

Jos Cambier  trophy to be awarded to highest points for DPI local assignment.

Beginners Cup to be awarded to the highest cumulative points open and subject for non local assignment DPI competitions

Reg  Mehew Cup to be awarded to the highest cumulative points open and subject from the four transparency competitions.

Print Trophies are awarded for the following categories

Pictorial

Record

Natural History

Portrait

Landscape

Also for the best monochrome within these categories, and POTY
